WEEKEND POST 121

You guys, I have the best update: After a two-month holiday, our osprey couple reclaimed their tree and have begun the process of building a new nest!

“Best” might mean something else to you, but this development gives me hope. Hope that the birds and wildlife who make their homes in our gradually diminishing coastal wetlands will continue to thrive for many years, and hope for any one of us who might need the reminder that there is always hope, no matter how many skies have fallen.

Looking back for this Weekly Suppers to Japanese grilled steak salad with miso-orange juice-massaged kale, orange segments, shaved daikon radish, and leaves of cilantro + mint. A quick trip to the grill and a simple mix of fresh ingredients, we often turn to steak-on-salad both to stretch pricier beef and to provide a lighter meal when it’s warm.

How’d you do putting your best fork forward for National Nutrition Month? Missed it? Here’s a summary of thoughts: Lifestyle changes don’t happen overnight. Be a work in progress with bite-sized improvements now and over time. Start with realistic goals, start gradually, but most importantly, just start. The first of a new month is as good a time as any!

Though April showers bring May flowers, and I love flowers, here’s to a sunny weekend!

To your best health, Heather

Wonderful post, Heather! I especially like the words of wisdom- our world is full of little miracles, if you just look. I walked twice today; here, at home, and with my sister in the Kettle Moraine area. Beautiful day, beautiful sister! Love the idea of Farm in a Box; what a cool idea. And the tiny bird houses- what’s not to enjoy there?
