Remember my cheery yellow crocuses that popped up at the end of January? One month later, frozen in time.

It’s becoming an annual tradition, this February ice storm. For the second year in a row [knock on wood] it’s a one-and-done deal, so we shouldn’t complain. We could be in the northeast.

What are your plans this weekend? It’s back to the open road for me. New site, new clients, new scenery! Said my farewells to Gabrielle Hamilton on the last drive, welcoming Bill O’Reilly on this one (hooked after Killing Patton). I also just started reading this book (an actual, tangible book) and it’s fantastic. Three-quarters done in three evenings. Odd, though, to be without Professor Langdon.

  • National Nutrition Month® is here! (Well, tomorrow.) This year’s theme “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle” focuses on attaining and maintaining a balanced, nutrient-rich eating plan and daily physical activity routine for a lifetime of good health and well-being. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (like me!) are your sources for science-based food and nutrition information.
  • In the meantime it’s still American Heart Month — a very special shout-out to the pregnant ladies.
  • Lentil prep instructions for those of us who are a little bit OCD. (Thanks for the heads up, Steph!)
  • I don’t care if it’s below freezing outside, I’m having a moment of weakness for drippy sweet yellow peaches and their delicate cousins, white peaches.
